My drawing project started with looking at life-drawing, and exploring improving my skills in pure drawing. I started to lose momentum with my life-drawing and decided to develop my project into an extension of my self-directed project and explore the theme of feminism and female stereotypes. However, the project felt like it was becoming over-complicated, so I decided to reign it back.
I found during my critiques that it was very surreal watching people discuss my work - talking about my drawings and discussing the model's form and the attitude suggested by her body without actually realising that I was the model. Recently my emotions have been very up and down and it has really affected my motivation and the amount of work I've been producing; I decided that I would use my theme of anonymity as a way to produce work about these feelings that would hopefully turn my demotivation into therapeutic and positive work.
I began by taking photos of myself on days when I was feeling down and struggling to get out of bed, so that no matter how much I didn't want to get up or leave my house, I was still producing work - I now intend to turn these photos into drawing studies.
